Tofu is one of my favorite low calorie food. I know its texture is not popular with some folks but I think with the right ingredients, it will be more appreciated.
This recipe is soooo easy to make too, so what other motivation do you need? C’mon, give tofu recipe a chance 🙂
Alrighty, let’s get cooking. You will need:
Nasoya Extra Firm Light Tofu
2 tbsps thinly sliced onion
2 cloves garlic, crushed
A bag of mixed stir fry vegetables
¼ cup Light Soy Sauce
1 tbsp cornstarch
A dash of black pepper
Sesame seeds for garnishing
Vegetable or canola or olive oil for stir frying
Slice the tofu into one inch cubes. Set aside.
Mix cornstarch and soy sauce in a small bowl. Set aside.
In a large frying pan (preferably non-stick), heat oil on medium high. Sauté the garlic and onion for about a minute, add the tofu and stir fry for about 3 minutes. Add the soy sauce mixture and let simmer for about 2 minutes, add the vegetables and stir fry for another 2 to 3 minutes. At this point, the sauce will be thick enough.
Transfer on a plate and garnish with sesame seeds. Enjoy with a warm cup of jasmine rice. You may also enjoy it by itself, no rice, no other meat and it will still be satisfying.
